OVER and OUT
Dear Friends and Supporters, We wish to inform you that the 'Jordan Valley Women's Radio' project in Al-Aqaba has come to an end. We have spent a period of six months getting to know each other and the women of Al-Aqaba through a variety of creative activities; listening circles, sound walks, interviews and initial radio skills. We enjoyed working together. However, we were constantly confronted with difficulties; practical, societal and political. The societal and familial influence was particularly important, resulting in a situation where, eventually, the women withdrew consent for the use of their voices in an initial public broadcast. Taking that into consideration, we tried to find a way to still publish the program but to no avail. In addition to that, Al-Aqaba is located in the North Jordan Valley which is an area that is frequently subjected to the Israeli settlers' and army attacks making the area unstable politically.
