OVER and OUT

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We wish to inform you that the 'Jordan Valley Women's Radio' project in Al-Aqaba has come to an end.

We have spent a period of six months getting to know each other and the women of Al-Aqaba through a variety of creative activities; listening circles, sound walks, interviews and initial radio skills.

We enjoyed working together. However, we were constantly confronted with difficulties; practical, societal and political. The societal and familial influence was particularly important, resulting in a situation where, eventually, the women withdrew consent for the use of their voices in an initial public broadcast. Taking that into consideration, we tried to find a way to still publish the program but to no avail.

In addition to that, Al-Aqaba is located in the North Jordan Valley which is an area that is frequently subjected to the Israeli settlers' and army attacks making the area unstable politically. Such factors make it difficult to have a stable ground for a project to develop and grow.
For the four of us, it has been a beautiful and challenging learning opportunity to work with the women of the Al-Aqaba and exchange experiences. However, we worked voluntarily for the whole six month period. The donations which we have managed to collect helped us a little bit to cover our expenses only.

We would like to thank you for your enthusiasm and support of our project. And we would like to assure you that each one of us continues to amplify the voices of women in the area.
